Project Name

Establishment of A Family-owned Organic Vegetable Garden

 

Overview

This is intended to meet my friend's requirements. So far, based on the following facts:

  • a piece of land, approx. 3 acres, all-year round green with grass.
  • sofe soil, quality under testing (VT soil test service, $5/sample)
  • convenient water supply, no underground drainage system (could that be a problem?)
  • good location, convenient transportation (side from Berryville Pike, good for commercial advertisement/open house, etc)

 

 

Objectives

This project should have the following impacts:

  • startup with small-scale trials to confirm feasibility
  • extend to middle-scale production with moderate greenhouse/equipment establishment

Schedule

  • On-site visit: April 9. (got first impression, took soil samples)
  • Info-exchange platform set up: April 12 (created a Wiki page on Daniel's AGROGURU website, for resource collection and timely communication)
  • Land planning: consider bed establishment / orientation; manure application; equipment availability, etc.
  • Preparatory trials: late April
  •
